Tank cleaning Systems

Projectname:
Investigations for the design of effective tank cleaning systems

Workgroup: Hygienic production

Scientific Partners and Guidance:
Fraunhofer AVV, Mr. André Boye

Financing: IVLV
Duration: 2012

Automated cleaning systems are often used for tanks in food industry. These systems, consisting of tank and cleaner, must be designed in such a way that their cleanability is ensured. Nevertheless, design support tools for automated tank cleaning systems hardly exist. Within this project, a time-resolved analysis of the cleaning performance of a representative selection of tank cleaning systems will be carried out. The results of the cleaning tests should provide first indications in regard to questions like:

  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of rotating cleaners for my specific application?
  • What is more effective: One big cleaner or multiple small nozzles?
  • Where is the optimal position for the cleaner?

If it is possible to deduce constructive design aids from the project results, they will be summarized in a technical bulletin.
